Edge2net to Invest in Asia

Published by: mike 2008-08-20

Tacoma's edge2net Inc, a provider of international telecommunications services, announced yesterday their intentions to invest $80 million in Asia during the next twelve months.

The investment includes the installation of a $6 million Nortel DMS-GSP carrier grade switch and VoIP equipment required to deliver value-added IP based applications and services to customers in Hong Kong and other parts of Asia.

"The new facility will serve as a regional hub for interconnecting with partners in Hong Kong and elsewhere," said Mark Ozur, edge2net's Chief Technology Officer.

According to Ozur, once the first phase of the upgrade is completed it will increase the company's HK based circuit-switched capacity by 10 times. This, along with a steadily increasing traffic flow over their Internet Protocol based switching platform, will enable the company to provide Voice over IP as well as enhanced voice and messaging services to more customers.
