Vbulliten Pre-Sales

  • Hello,

I was woundering is their any way that i will be able to modify VB so that it uses the members database from my site and not its own.

I currently have a member system on my site where people sign up this is seperate to VB what i would like to know is can i make vb grab usernames and password from the same db the site uses so that effectiely their is only one sign up process.

  • Most of the tiem, it is easier to make your system work with vBulletin, rather than trying to make vB work with your system.

  • Can VB export news to a page external to the forum? Say you designate a News area can News be exported from VB to your site?

  • it'd require some substential code modification; you can ask for help on how to do that on vb.org after you have a license... Alternatively, if your current user atabase does not have password encrypted (or encrypted using md5($password)) you can fairly easily import it into the vB's database and work from there.

    Cheers.

  • vBulletin 3 includes an external feed system which allows to to feed the latest ten public threadsto external pages. Here's a thread explaining this:

    http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showpost.php?p=476059&postcount=7

And here's an explanation on how to use this in a web page:

    http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showpost.php?p=769858&postcount=1

    And here's the online documentation:

  • I think that's possible with a CMS (content management system), or portal.
