When do puppies start losing their teeth?

  • Okay, i notice the other day when i was playing with my dog that he lost a tooth. I don't know how old my dog might be...well i have an idea (5-6months) probably. Is it normal for my lab mix dog lose a tooth? is it like baby teeth?

  • i didnt think puppies did. he might have just knocked it out by mistake or something.
im pretty sure that only really old dogs lose there teeth.

  • Your dog will probably start losing teeth about now until she is one years old. It is normal for a dog to loose teeth and it is just a baby teeth so no worries. Good Luck!

  • Puppies don't loose their teeth.
He must of gotten alittle rough playing or something.

  • totally normal for them to lose teeth anywhere from 4 months on. Yes, just like baby teeth. But instead of a quarter the tooth fairy leaves a doggy biscuit.

  • Fangs for grabbing and puncturing, incisors for nibbling, premolars for tearing, and molars for crushing bone -- although the family pet is far more civilized than his wild relatives, he still has the same equipment for eating, grooming, greeting, and defense.

Like humans, dogs have two sets of teeth in their lives. The 28 baby teeth erupt through the gums between the third and sixth weeks of age. Puppies do not have to grind much food, so they do not have molars. Puppy teeth begin to shed and be replaced by permanent adult teeth at about four months of age. Although there is some variation in breeds, most adult dogs have 42 teeth, with the molars coming last, at about six or seven months.

Don't worry, it's perfectly normal. Just know that ur puppy will start biting and chewing things more due to the the irritation of it's teeth. oh, and he may bleed like my boy pomeranian did. :/

    :D

  • Puppies start losing their baby teeth when they're between 3 - 4 months old and finishing teething between 7 - 8 months of age.

  • puppies gain teeth not loose teeth

    I thought that was obvious

  • They start to lose their milk teeth at about 4-5 months of age, and they are replaced with their permanent adult teeth.
You don't always realise that they have lost one because they tend to eat them, but this is perfectly normal.
Their milk teeth are basically their baby teeth, just like children who's baby teeth are replaced by the adult teeth.
l found ice cubes or a frozen kong helped cool the gums down and helped with teething.
