i got a tattoo of a star on my inner wrist exactly a week ago today. i would say it has formed a fairly thick scab since then and has hardly given me any itchiness, however i've still been applying fragrance free lotion for the past 2/3 days. today, i think something probably scratched off a part of the scab during work OR can it really be the scab falling off? does it happen after 7 days? and IF it was accidentally scratched off and not falling off on its own, what damage does it do to the tattoo?
i have a tattoo on my inner wrist as well. i think it was less than a week in which i lost my scab. the scab falling off on its own doesn't do any damage. to be honest, you won't necessarily have any damage to your tattoo if you accidentally scratched off your tattoo either, depending upon how it happened. i mean, if you took a brillo pad to your scab - expect it to look pretty ragged. but losing the scab because you accidentally brushed up against something is pretty minor. worst case scenario you may need to have some of the ink touched up, but that's about the worst of it.
If it fell off on its own you are fine. Every one heals differently and its quite possible if fell off on its one. I had one done on the 1st and most of the scab was off by day 7 or 8. If it came off early via a scratch you may loss some ink in that area. In which case go back after 6 weeks for a touch up on that area.
