Do cockroaches have any beneficial purpose on Earth?

  • I know this is a gross question, but are they only attracted to filth, or do they serve some kind of purpose?


  • They're among the many creatures who are a kind of clean-up crew: omnivores. They help in the decomposition and recycling of waste matter of other animals. They also serve as food for any critter unparticular enough to eat them.

    Yes, they serve a purpose. So do flies. Mosquitos and fleas, though -- I have to stretch a little to side up with them.
