Cache emptying on smb .vob stream

  • when i begin playing the file, the cache fills to about 30%, but it degades very quickly as the file continues to play until the cache is not filling at all. the "early/late" count increases dramatically, and the framerate drops as well. changing the cache size settting seems to have no effect, and this problem has been observed on multiple vob's. this did not happen in previous builds, and i was wondering whether there is a reason beyond cache size that would be causing this behavior, and if anyone else has been experiencing this problem. thanks.

  • i tested many more .vob files, and it seems to be isolated to a couple of files. if i pause the file, it allows the cache to fill, but once playback is resumed, the cache begins to empty until it hits zero. if i stream the file via smb to another computer and play it in video lan client, the problem doesn't occur. is there any way that the problem could be tied to some association between xbmc and the file?

  • i read some other posts and thought that it might be related to the new dlink router running my network. sure enough, i switched out the dlink di-524 and put in a netgear, and everything is working perfectly. i will play around more with the settings on the dlink to see if i can isolate what is specifically causing the problem, and post when i have figured it out.
