2. while there go through the various options and find the one dealing with dashboard. x3 has and option to automatically load various dashboards. you will see there different names avalaunch, evox, xbmc, etc.
3. there is an option to move the dashboard that you want (in your case xbmc) to the top of the list and then make it load first. do that.
4. as long as the name of the xbmc .xbe file on your xbox harddrive remains the same you can boot to it.
what i would suggest, though, is to connect your xbox to your computer using either a crossover network cable or a hub and a regular network cable. with such a connection and an ftp program such as flashftp you can browse your xbox hard drive, upload, download, move, rename etc. files on the xbox. so you could play with installing and using different dashboards. i, for instance, boot up automatically to xbmc, but have both avalaunch and evolution dashboards that i could boot up if i had problems with xbmc or if i want to play with them.
hope this helps
