What are some of the best army bases?

  • From experience or word of mouth, what are the best army bases to be stationed and why?

Also what are the worst, or 'not so good'?

  • Ft Meade baby!!!!!! All the way!

  • the first question is whats your fiancee's MOS. does he have the choice of station?
    but the 82nd Airborne Div(fort bragg), 101st Airborne Div(fort campbell). 10th Mnt(fort drum).,25 ID(schofileds B's) would be the good choices.

  • Best: Ft. Lewis, and Ft. Carson

Worst: Ft. Campbell (currently stationed), Ft. Hood, and Ft. Polk

  • An army location is not called a base, that is navy and air force. An army location is called a post. Everyone has their own opinion of the environment that they like and the environment that they dislike. As a rule of thumb most individuals like the last post they resided on the best. Having lived personally on two posts this far I can that location makes a difference.

If you like warmer climates you may prefer Schofield Barracks or WAAF in Hawaii, Fort Bliss in Texas or Fort Irwin in California. Colder more hearty locations range from Fort Drum in New York, to Baumholder in Deutschland to Ft. Riley in Kansas. Locations that are rainy include any army instillation in Hawaii (Schofield Barracks, WWAF, Ft. Shafter), Ft. Carson in Colorado, and Fort Lewis in Washington State.

Every army post is a personal preference. The best rule of thumb is you can make any post as good, bad or bearable as you want too.

  • The answer is: It's not about the base, but whoever can train you the best...

  • Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.... best.

  • Every post is someone's favorite; every post is someone's most hated.

For every crappy location, there are thousands of GI who'd love to go there. Personally, I'd shoot myself before being stationed at Fort Hood TX-can't stand the place. I prefer being at Fort Leonard Wood MO where no one messes with us.

Fort Lewis WA was great when I was there; so was Fort Irwin CA. Great weather and excellent training

  • Ft. jackson (aka relaxson jackson)

  • ft stewart ga, ft carson, germany are the best places to be stationed..there's always something to do in those places...been to all of them..loved those places

    worst that i've heard
is ft leonardwood, and ft polk la
