Outpost Pro 2.1 and *.mdb file

  • Hi

It happens second time to me since i install OFP...

    Symptoms:
    - process outpost.exe eats 99% CPU time
    - there is message in event viewer than firewall service can't start
    - service failed when i try start it manually
    - can't open firewall gui
    - firewall block all traffic (but ICS works, really funny :>)
    - shutting down system takes ages

    And...

I discover that when i delete op_data.mdb (database file which contains all logs, rite?) file from OFP dir automagically everything start working. So i guess that
    - there is problem when *mdb file gets bigger
    or
    - there is some bug in odbc drivers
    or
    - some bug in OFP itself

    OFP 2.1.303.4009 (314)
Windows 2003 Server Standard (all fixes installed.. i think...)
no 3rd party odbc drivers (only those installed by Windows)

  • Are you running any anti-virus software? If so, configure it to exclude scanning the .mdb and .ldb Outpost log files (these are not executable so you cannot catch a virus from them) - the symptoms you describe would be typical of an AV scanner interfering with Outpost's logging. If you cannot do this, try either disabling the AV scanner or disabling Outpost's logging.

  • Yes, i use NOD32... maybe ure right ;-)

Ok, i exclude these files. Thx for info.
