BSOD - IRQ NOT LESS OR EQUAL results in Outpost re-install.

  • I am using Outpost 2.1.303.4009 + the 040424 Blockpost plugin.
I have an extensive list of IPs to be blocked. (.txt file that I import is 1.2Megs).
I deleted an entry from Blockpost's block list, and pressed the OK button (there is a long wait time here usually), and I was waiting.
Then the BSOD came (before Blockpost finished). Restarted machine, and I noticed that Outpost does not start. After a while (a minute or two an error showed up saying that there was an unknown error). I press ok, and start Outpost manually. Nothing, same error. Then I scan the discs for viruses and bad sectors, and restart computer. Nothing changed, same error.
I have to un-install and install Outpost again to make it work again.
Two things I would like to have fixed:
    1. Outpost BSOD. No other firewall SW is doing that except this. Fix it please.
    2. Blockpost plugin. Please optimize the handling of _long_ blocklist. It takes ages to get something done.
    Thank You.

  • Thanks, gonna give it a go. However, that does not fix the Outpost BSOD.
I am using XP Pro SP1 + all hotfixes, and Outpost 2.1.303.4009.
    I have:
    MB: Gigabyte GA-8IHXP,
Proc: Intel P4@3.06MHz with HT enabled,
    RAM: 4xKingston 256 MB 1066MHz ECC,
Video: Gainward 750 XP Golden Sample (Ti-4600 based card)
    SCSI controller: Adaptec 29160
    SCSI HDDs: 2xIBM UltraStar 73LZX (36Gigs each)
    IDE HDD: 1xHitachi Deskstar 180GXP (180Gigs)
    USB2 HDD: 1xHitachi Deskstar 180GXP (180Gigs)
    DVD-ROM: XJ-HD166S
    CD-RW: LTR-52327S
    Audigy 2 Platinum
    Realmagic X-Card
    Logitech keyboard and mouse.
    Router: Draytek Vigor 2600We
I was using different versions almost all of those had the same error. See this thread:
    http://outpostfirewall.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10318

I did not write the error message down, but I think I will next time. It looks pretty similar to those that have been posted before.

BTW: I am sure that it's not related to Blockpost plugin - OP was crashing beforehand as well.

  • hi csimbi, can't help on the bsod bit, but you might try the alternate blockpost driver which was developed by fazion specifically for large lists. (might help bsod if we're lucky)

following info may help someone to help you:

what operating system are you using?
pc spec, memory, cpu, hard disk size if known?
can you give us the full error message if you can (hopefully you won't get it again though)
