remove ink from ivory

  • I am carving a piece of ivory, unfortunatly the permanent ink that i used penetrated the ivory and has created an unsightly black stain. It has also traveled along fractures which i hadn't noticed before but are all to visible now. the brand of marker is staedtler lumocolor. I am looking for the best way to remove the stain (aside from carving it away). any help would be appreciated.


  • Hi chujybear, Unfortunately, deep stains, such as paint, ink or oils probably cannot be removed as ivory is porous and absorbs these materials.
