  • Finally I hope to be the proud owner of a Canon EOS 350D (rebel XT to anyone over the pond) on Saturday!

    And a Lexar 1Gb compact flash card.

    One question.

    How many shot can I get on a 1Gb card using the Jpeg and Raw mode ?

  • I got the EOS 350D (Rebel XT) today and I think I will be shooting jpeg+Raw.

    I have a X's Drive II (30GB transferable) so I can back up.

    I was woindering if a 1Gb is enough

    but with it I get a free 256MB card from Canon!

  • There is no set number of shots you can fit onto the card. The file size will vary depending on a few things like ISO setting etc.


  • Cool Xmetal ... I love mine .. now I just have to go out and use it


  • Make sure you have the latest firmware, etc... Some folks have had problems with Lexar cards and EOS cameras. You'll get approx 110 RAW shots in a gig. I don't know how many jpegs; probably 250-300?

    Jpeg+raw is for folks who need to deliver proofs/CDs onsite. Dive in and shoot raw, then convert to tiff and jpeg as needed. Dealing with raw is way easier dealing with jpegs, IMHO.


  • I get about 130/140 on a 512 CF card with my 350D shooting largest jpeg... I guess a gig will be roughly double.


  • Big Mike is right, it does vary, but as rough guide, My 300D estimates between 120 and 140 RAW pictures on a 1Gb card. I haven't shot JPEG for a while, but I'd guess you're looking at maybe 250 or so.

  • I'll give the jpg a spin first and once I have got used to it I will shoot a football match wit hthe RAW .....

  • While we're on the subject of 350D - I got a call from the camera place where I placed my order - they dropped it in the post this afternoon and i should see it sometime next week! :D
